Hello Eden Park Mafia,
So, I've noticed that something you all love to do, almost as much as you do writing fan fiction, is THEORIZE. So, while we're in our lengthiest Hiatus, let's have a little fun.
You have one week to submit a theory. It can be anything, but it MUST be well thought out. Not just "I think Harrison is actually Mittens the cat."
The best thought out and convincing theory will be crowned the winner. NOTE: THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE THEORY IS CORRECT OR WILL HAPPEN.
You may work on this theory with other players, but only one person can submit it and that person will be considered the entrant. You may submit only one theory. Submissions close January 14th 11:59 PM, PST. You may post the theories in this thread.
The winner will be given the full title of the next case or a piece of unseen concept art, their choice.
Thank you.

I have a theory I've been sitting on for quite a while actually, that Harrison is some form of Djinn. I hav a few reasons for this: - The fact of him being bound to an object could be something added later but it fits with the more Western concept of Djinn (Genie, as we often call them), being bound to some kind of object. The fact that it's an urn, a very typical kind of vessel for a supernatural being, just adds to this.
- Eden Park appears to focus on the idea of all supernatural beings being in some way connected or part of the same phenomenon. When Boneyfiddle collected our stories into the Tome, he seemed to give those characters life of their own - it is entirely plausible, therefore, that the faery realm is actually some kind of manifestation of all the forms of supernatural being that exist. This implies it's the source of supernatural beings, so while it's not strictly anything to do with the traditional Arabian and Islamic Jinn - it's possible those ideas (and thus, Harrison) stemmed from the land of the fae.
- Like human beings, the jinn can be good, evil, or neutral and benevolent: they have free will like humans. Harrison has never demonstrated a total lack of autonomy, just partial. Sounds like he's in the same category as humans.
- Harrison said to me once that he was "human, unfortunately", implying either a distaste for humanity (which would fit with him being a servant of my tall dark and gooey - maybe he just desires "more" than humanity). What kind of force could change a a supernatural being into a human? How about a wish?
- The Canary isles has the belief in things such as the maxios or dioses paredros; 'attendant gods', domestic and nature spirits. I don't know mcuh on this but it seems tangentially similar to the Asian concept of familial spirits and spirits bound to families or locations. That would fit with Harrison being bound to a jar and bound to a person.
- The one thing that puzzled me was the idea of Cold iron harming him - if he was bound by some kind of fae oath, that would make sense, but cold iron is not just used against the fae, apparently, it works on a lot of supernatural beings (maybe we should ask Scarlet what the modern witch take on cold iron is, since I'm pretty certain witches aren't the evil creatures that Walter Scott spoke of. And Harrison used it AGAINST Fae to be able to contact us, so...
- That's all she wrote so far.
I have another idea that I want to put down here, but I really haven't thought it out AT ALL, so massive grains of salt here, please. But... remember the story of Pandora, a curious woman who opened Pandora's box and released all the evils of the world? Yeah, that. And ib the original myth it's not a box. Guess what item it actually is?

Alright everyone settle into a chair because this is going to take me a while to articulate. I’m sure you are all expecting some grand theory about Harrison. And don’t worry, this theory does relate to my problematic fave. But not directly. Instead, this theory is primarily about Lexie. Lexie is an interesting figure in Eden Park. From the outside, she is your average girl. However, as it was revealed to us she was an immortal being, bound by a promise she made to her mother to return a thunderstone to Eden Park. As we know, she was successful, however, in the process of doing so she incurred the wrath of the Squelcher. As a result Lexie gets her will bound to a bell and is sold into slavery. For a while now, we’ve only had this story as any information on the Squelcher. And at first, I took it at face value. Here is a being that obvious does not want to lose the power a thunderstone has and thus, when someone takes it away, he punishes them. With some POWERFUL stuff I might add. But nothing suspect here right? That was until Gabby revealed to me in text form that the Squelcher, and later, the ‘Kingpin’ (or, the monster to whom Harrison answered too) both were trying to build a supernatural army of sorts. And now I am supposed to believe that the Squelcher, a collector of magical beings, let Lexie, who is an immortal girl… leave Eden Park? Away from his supernatural collection? I mean, he didn’t let her leave unscathed- her will was still bound to a bell and all, but this made me raise an eyebrow, for several reasons- 1) The way Lexie tells it, her immortality came from a gift from her mother. How this gift is given is not entirely clear, but- 2) The fact that her mother was able to bestow the gift to her daughter at all shows that the gift of magic was in Lexies immediate family. 3) Magic is often hereditary. Now, since we don’t know exactly how the gift was given to Lexie, we can’t be entirely certain whether or not it was given via the use of a thunderstone. But, I don’t think that the thunderstone magically gives people supernatural abilities like a radioactive spider. My assumption is that a thunderstone only enhances qualities already latent in people. Thus, if Scarlet’s family were exposed to it, their magical abilities would increase further, or abilities would develop more prominently in those members that had thus far had only subtle showings they were magical at all. The only evidence I really have to support this is the fact that when placed in direct content with a supernatural scanner, Lexie’s reading was a 5. I don’t think that reading came solely from the fact that she was immortal. Some of that had to link to a deeper magical, or special ability. She got the short end of the genetic stick and was unable to perform magic herself. The Squelcher would have known this. And I am expected to believe that after binding her will to a bell he IMMEDIATELY sold her into slavery. Yeah I call bullshit. And by bullshit, I don’t mean that Lexie wasn’t sold into slavery. She was. That happened. However, I severely doubt that the Squelcher would have done so immediately, as Lexie seems to hint at. He would have sold her into slavery only AFTER she was no longer of use to him. ...Do you see where I am going with this? No? Alright I’ll get to the point. You see, it would have been immediately obvious to the Squelcher that Lexie- beyond her immortality anyway- was normal. However, he would also know that her bloodline carries heavy magical ability. And while she might not have it… one of her children certainly would. Especially if she had a child with, oh I don’t know, someone else of high magical ability. Like him. ...now do you see where I am going with this? … Anyway. Lexie would have been sold into slavery about a year later, after having produced… something to the Squelchers satisfaction. This is something I have no doubt that Lexie herself will take to the grave. She’ll then spend the next several decades doing god-knows-what until she manages to get her bell again. Trying to forget what the Squelcher made her do. In the meantime, the Squelcher raises the child. Molds the child how he wishes. After all, who says it’s only magic that can be transferred genetically. And even if it wasn’t… wasn’t it implied that Harrison wasn’t doing things entirely of his own will anyway? And haven’t we seen that the Squelcher has the ability to bind wills, regardless? The only odd thing I find from this situation is that Harrison never himself became the Kingpin. But, perhaps, the Kingpin was already a figure on the horizon. And perhaps the goal wasn’t really to have an heir. Perhaps it was just to create a powerful weapon for his use. After all, why would his own son disobey him? I doubt Lexie is even aware of what the Squelcher did to her child. Or who her child even is. I wouldn’t be surprised if she never wants to know. But perhaps… someone else does. Perhaps, her son knows. But then. We can never rely on Harrison for anything.

Okay. So. A few nights ago, I had a dream that I posted my theory in this thread, except the theory that I posted in the dream was not the theory I had planned to post before going to sleep. When I woke up, I thought it was a crazy, off-the-wall dream theory... until I thought about it some more, and realized that it made so much sense - that it was the missing puzzle piece to glue together the pieces of the rest of my theory. So now I have incorporated these different parts together, and that dream theory is the hub around which my whole unified theory revolves, and is the first item in this elaboration of my theory. - Gabby is the "kingpin". Some support for this:
- When asked if she ever met the Squelcher, she answered with a cagey "I didn't get out much." For someone who never made a Sidh oath, she's sure closed-mouthed on certain topics.
- She told Amber "I am no angel" - very reminiscent of Harrison's claims that certain matters were the domain of his "better half" - and hinting at a checquered past for Gabby.
- The Squelcher was building an army of the paranormal - and sending a student to drink from the Fountain of Youth would fit right in with that.
- The Adams family was very powerful in Eden Park. Why not rule over all its dark forces?
- Obviously Gabby did not know at the time that the Squelcher was the one who enslaved Lexie. How would she know that? By her own admission, she didn't get out much, and he wouldn't want to give his student a reason to leave him.
- This also explains why the Squelcher would sell Lexie away if he wanted to keep power so badly - she was proving a distraction to his Kingpin. He needed Gabby focused, so he sacrificed Lexie and got rid of her.
- Gabby is not evil anymore. Obviously at some point she discovered the truth of this situation, and when she left to find the Fountain of Youth, she left for good, rather than returning to run the dark forces in Eden Park some more.
- So while still the Kingpin of all dark forces of Eden Park, Gabby created Harrison by binding Harrison the normal human being to all the dak magic.
- This would explain why she actually KNOWS what Harrison is.
- Here's his bad decision - consenting to be bound and turned into the embodiment of dark magic, in exchange for power and immortality. Hey, that kind of thing was going around!
- Much later on in our chronology, Patrick, in his capacity as an FFC member, was investigating paranormal stuff, and happened upon the truth about Harrison. Since he learned Harrison's name, Harrison was magically compelled to kill him.
- Like okay yes Harrison had a choice, but only inasmuch as he made the choice way back when to let Gabby turn him into this beast that has to kill anyone who learns its name.
- When Ben and Harrison were engaged, Harrison would often have to be distant, pushing Ben away or even outright lying to him, to protect him from the darkness that is magically a part of him.
- Because she cares about her best friend, when Ben and Harrison were engaged, Lexie did some digging to find out more about who Harrison was.
- Lexie discovered his connection with the Squelcher, and determined to break them up - both because she is worried about Ben's safety and because she has bad associations with anything connected with the Squelcher, and is hard pressed to concede that Harrison could be a reformed character
- So Lexie finds and shows Ben evidence that Harrison murdered Patrick. In the wake of this discovery, Ben breaks up with Harrison and stops taking his calls.
- Gabby, who knows about what is going on through Lexie, feels guilty.
- She blames herself for ruining Harrison's life (by turning him into that monster and indirectly causing Ben to hate him)
- She can also empathize, since they both have similar dark origins, and similar reformation and hope of a relationship with someone who doesn't have that kind of dark history
- And she knows Lexie would totally break things off with her if she knew about Gabby's dark past with the Squelcher.
- So she feels she owes him something.
- So Gabby sends Ben a secret message giving him just enough information to know that Harrison was magically compelled to kill Patrick, and had been being distant with Ben only to protect him, without giving him enough information to magically compel Harrison to kill Ben (obviously Gabby is immune to that despite knowing Harrison's name and nature because she a. created him and b. drank from the Fountain of Life).
- We know from experience that stealing a phone and sending secret messages that she doesn't want Lexie to ever find out about is definitely something that Gabby would do!
- This new knowledge renews Ben's faith in Harrison (because Ben loved him all along!) and Ben resolves to save Harrison from the darkness he is bound to.
- Ben and Lexie fight because Lexie feels that Harrison is not worth the sacrifice
- This history also sheds light on the animosity between Harrison and Lexie -
- Harrison knows that Lexie was the one who tried to separate him and Ben
- While Lexie hates Harrison for his connection with the Squelcher, and blames him for Ben's death, since Ben wanted to sacrifice himself to save Harrison
- Ben embarks on investigating into this, which will of course lead him to discovering Harrison's True Name (and calling Harrison magically to kill him, in the process)
- Ben uses the fae magic to make sure no one he spoke with (minus the "anonymous tip" from Gabby, whose identity in that tip he never discovered) can repeat this stuff and lead someone else to get killed
- Ben uses Marina's magic to destroy his identity into thumbprints so that he as Ben will no longer have an identity / True Name to learn
- He traps Harrison in the urn to prevent him from killing Ben as he is magically compelled to do
- And then he bargains with the darkness itself to let him replace (and free/ "save") Harrison ("Let me do this one last thing and then I will stop, and then I will be yours for all time"), and then he activates Marina's magic
- Leaving the darkness trapped in the urn, no longer tied to Harrison
- And the darkness is instead bound to an identityless formerlyBen with no name to learn
- And Harrison is human and mortal and free. ("Everything I do, I do for the people I love.")
- So Lexie blames Harrison for Ben's death because Ben died to save him - the "bad decision" that he made, that caused Ben's death, was his decision long ago to agree to be bound (by Gabby) to the dark magic
- And now, no longer bound to dark magic, Harrison would be able to leave town if he wanted, as he and Lexie both told us he could
- And he described himself as "human, unfortunately" because his humanity is at the cost of Ben's life
- Lexie said he might look different than before since the darkness he was bound to has been ripped away, leaving him fundamentally different.

These theories were all equally amazing, and clever, and it was very difficult to make a choice.
BUT, Qara's theory has the most logical flow to it, and is the easiest to navigate! Congrats, Qara! Let me know what you prefer and I'll send it over!
